In early 2008, serial entrepreneurs Sam Shank, David Hehman and Howard Love were having dinner and brainstorming their next big adventure. Sam had just sold his company to Kayak and the world of travel deals was still fresh in his memory. He complained that when he recently tried to book a reunion trip to Las Vegas, he couldn't find a travel deals website where deals could be searched, compared, analyzed, and shared. A few sketches, emails, and late-night dinners later, the vision of DealBase.com was born: a comprehensive, unbiased home for travel deals, with a consistent, standardized way of presenting hotel deals and their true savings. DealBase.com launched soon after, in November.
