Spotlight on Luxury Hotels in Tokyo, Japan
Japanese culture has been infiltrating the U.S. for decades but never have I seen an interest in this island nation than of late. While my personal connection with Japan resides solely in running around downtown Tokyo’s Shibuya Crossing and taking part in a Japanese game show as a contestant in the reality show, The Amazing Race, I was still able to catch a glimpse of the ultra modern buildings—many that are home to Tokyo’s best hotels. So what hotels would I want to stay in upon a return [non-reality show] trip to Tokyo? Since I’m a deal lover, I’m interested in hotels that still offer the type of deals that we find on DealBase (as we expand into our DealBase coverage of Asia).
CONRAD TOKYO HOTEL: This contemporary and modern hotel located 37-floors up is known for its views: the Hamarikyu Gardens, Tsukiji Fish Market (one of the world’s largest fish markets…sushi anyone?) and the Tokyo Bay skyline all from your hotel room. Their website offers many hotel deals including one with a leg massage at their Mizuki Spa & Fitness club; perfect after long days walking around Tokyo. Conrad Tokyo Hotel Deals

FOUR SEASONS HOTEL TOKYO AT CHINZAN-SO: While the majority of guest rooms at this Four Seasons property—one of two in Tokyo—offer traditional Western décor, Chinzan-so’s Japanese Suite is traditional Japanese style—including a “shoji” paper screen, “tokonoma” alcoves for displaying Japanese art and more. A big fan of modern architecture, I would spend part of every day at YU, their beautiful wood and stone-designed spa featuring Japanese-style spa treatments and gardens. While a hotel stay here may put a sizable dent in your wallet, the hotel still offers special “Third Night Free” and Seasonal Promotion rates. Four Seasons Hotel Tokyo at Chinzan-so Hotel Deals

PARK HYATT TOKYO: This hotel received some major attention with Sophia Coppola’s Lost in Translation, but for good reason: it’s visually striking with clean-cut modernist designs and contemporary artwork. This is the hotel where I would want to spend every sunset at the 52nd-floor bar, marveling at the panoramic views of Tokyo’s endless skyline—with a lychee martini in hand.
