How to Find the Best Vegas Hotel Deals

October 5th, 2009 by Jessica Stout

It’s no surprise that Las Vegas is the most popular destination for online hotel deals here at DealBase; not only does Sin City afford fun for all ages, but it’s 120,000+ hotel rooms consistently offer heavily discounted value-added deals. We sat down for a Q&A with Jen, one of our DealBase Expert Deal Finders to learn the insider info on how to find the best Vegas hotel deals.

Q: What do you recommend as the top 3 tips for finding good Vegas hotel deals?

1. Sign up for DealBase Alerts. We review Vegas often; with the alerts, you get the great deals as they roll in.

2. Be open to all possibilities when looking for a hotel. Vegas offers a wide range of accommodations for every budget, and your hotel dollar can go pretty far there with the right deal.

3. Did I mention No. 1 above?

Q: What is the best (i.e., greatest deal saver) you’ve ever found?

A: Vegas routinely sees hotel deals with savings of over 70%, so you have a lot of options in terms of value. And if you want to splurge, you don’t necessarily have to spend: where else but Vegas can you stay at 4-star hotel for $48 a night?

Q: What is the most unusual deal you’ve ever found?

A: The one where you can get both a roller coaster ride and spa access in the same deal.

Editor’s Note: We aren’t joking! New York-New York’s “Couple’s Package” offers cocktails, spa admission and roller coaster rides all wrapped up into one deal.

Q: What do you think is the best Vegas hotel for families looking for a deal?

A: Some hotels offer deals with kiddies in mind, such as the Four Seasons and the Red Rock, which offer multiple “Family Packages” with inclusions like bowling, movie tickets, and passes to Kids Quest, its indoor play area designed specifically for its younger guests. It’s worth just checking your favorite Vegas hotel for deals, though; there’s a good chance it may offer inclusions (such as an activity/hotel credit) the whole family can benefit from.

Q:What do you think is the best Vegas hotel for non-families (couples, friends, etc.) for a deal?

A: The Signature at MGM Grand would be my choice for a couples getaway (everyone loves gourmet in-suite dining). For a weekend away with friends, I’d probably try the Luxor or the Excalibur, which both offer great girls’ (and guys’) getaway deals with big savings.

Editor’s Note: Palm’s Place is a hot new property gaining popularity with the non-family travelers, too!

Q: What have you seen as the best time(s) of the year—and week—to find Vegas hotel deals?

A: Vegas is a year-round party, though summertime and early fall seem to offer particularly great deals.

Editor’s Note: Read about when and why off-season travel to Vegas works well.

Q: What Vegas hotel opening are you anticipating most?

A: ARIA, opening December 16. What will the inside of a 7,000-square-foot Sky Villa look like?

Q: What’s better? Looking for Vegas hotel deals far in advance or last minute?

A: You definitely don’t need to wait until the last minute to save big and do well in Vegas. There’s a hotel and a deal to suit everyone’s likes and wallet. The sooner you start looking, the more likely you are to find yours!
