The Big Deal about our new Deal Alerts

July 2nd, 2009 by samshank

Yesterday we launched (what we humbly think is) the world’s best travel deal email product. We’re really excited about bringing this product to market, and here’s why we think it’s important and something you will enjoy:

DealBase Alert Email

DealBase Alert Email

  • It’s endlessly customizable to your interests. Unlike other travel deal newsletters which send the same content to everyone, you get to choose the destinations and types of hotels that interest you. This means you’ll receive deals that are far more relevant and interesting, as they match your preferences. And you never get deals for places you have no intention of visiting. For example, my wife hates going to Las Vegas – so her alerts include many great places, but never deals for Vegas.
  • It’s an alert, not a newsletter. You’ll only hear from us when we have an interesting deal for you, and then you’ll hear right away, not on a certain day of the week (so you can get deals before they sell out.)
  • It taps into our huge database of deals. DealBase has the world’s largest collection of hotel deals, promotions, offer codes, and insider savings – currently more than 27,000 deals. More than 100 new deals are added on any given day, about ten-times more deals than other sites.
  • You’ll get the best deals, not just sponsor deals Our alerts are not advertorial, like the other guys – so you’ll be alerted of the best new deals, not just the deals from hotels that can afford to pay.

We have big plans for DealBase Alerts. Coming soon are more customization and delivery options. Sign up now, and we’ll keep you posted of new developments, right within your alerts!

Meanwhile, we’d love to hear from you about what you’d like us to add to make the “ultimate travel deal alert product”.

DealBase.com Announces New Hotel Deal Alerts: World’s First Personalized Travel Deal Newsletter
Customized Alerts Report on Best Deals That Match Travelers’ Preferences

SAN MATEO, CA–(Marketwire – July 1, 2009) – DealBase.com, a next-generation hotel deals web site, today released hotel deal email alerts that are fully customizable to a traveler’s preferences. Travelers tell DealBase.com which destinations they want to visit (out of over 700 destinations), the star ratings of hotels they prefer, and the maximum nightly rate they want to pay, and DealBase.com sends email alerts about deals that match their preferences.

“In this time of amazing travel deals, everyone wants to be the first to know about the best savings and insider discounts,” said Sam Shank, CEO. “DealBase.com’s comprehensive deal alerts empowers travelers by sending relevant offers and insider savings opportunities, so you can get these deals before they sell out.”

For example, for a traveler that indicated an interest in Las Vegas and New York City hotel deals at four and five star hotels under $200/night, DealBase would send deal alerts for the Hard Rock Casino at $55/night (70% savings) and the Westin Times Square at $199/night including breakfast (37% savings).

“DealBase.com’s innovative hotel deal alerts are the 2.0 version of travel deal newsletters,” commented Howard Love, Chairman. “Unlike traditional hotel deal emails that send the same content to every subscriber, DealBase Alerts will only send you information on great deals for your favorite places and hotels while bypassing deals you don’t care about.”

Consumers can sign up now for free hotel deal alerts at www.DealBase.com/alerts.

DealBase.com Debuts New Search Filters

April 17th, 2009 by Liz Kao

This week we updated our site with a couple new filtering methods on our city and hotel pages, that our users have been asking for:

- Filtering by a deal’s minimum required nights: If you know you’re only staying for 2 nights somewhere, make your browsing more efficient by leaving out any deals that require stays of 3 nights or longer. For example, if you’re planning a quick jaunt to Hawaii for the weekend, enter Hawaii in the search bar, and then use the dropdown list as shown below.

From One Deal Lover to Another

April 14th, 2009 by Jessica Stout

Hi DealBase Readers! I wanted to introduce myself as the latest travel-crazed, deal-obsessed, member of the DealBase team. I’ll be the “go-to” gal for providing interesting, new travel-related content starting this week: budget travel, travel destinations, travel trends—you name it, I’ll be researching and writing about it. Like much of the DealBase team, I’m struck with wanderlust and love to travel: I recently returned from a (very affordable) six-month stint through Latin America and Mexico; I spent one sangria-induced year “studying” abroad in Barcelona, Spain; and I am constantly marking maps of where to daydream about traveling to next. I’m excited to join the DealBase team and look forward to sharing insight into the travel world and how to travel affordably, one deal at a time.

Feel free to email me at jessica@dealbase.com for comments, questions, suggestions, etc.
-Jessica
